Knorr-Bremse EBS5 (MAN truck)
Knorr-Bremse EBS5 (electronic braking system) modules can be found not only in Mercedes-Benz trucks, but also in MAN trucks. In this article we are going to introduce you these modules and what programming possibilities are to this day with Truck Explorer.
EBS5 can be found in Euro 6 MAN trucks.
This module has MPC562 processor. (Flash: S29CD016J; EEPROM: 95640)
Programming functions:
Newest V7.0 Truck Explorer software now gives the opportunity to connect and work with these EBS5 control units from MAN trucks.
Available functions:
- Read/write full memory (flash&eeprom) in BDM mode.
– can be used to access damaged EBS module and recover files;
– recover faulty EBS module;
– cloning - Read/write full memory in OBD and DC2 – coming soon.

When you have everything ready connect all the needed hardware as in the picture above and connect VEI device to your laptop or phone/tablet.
Note: BDM connection manual and where to solder adapter, look in your MyVEI user account:
Open Truck Explorer app. In software choose:
- MAN
- Direct Connect BSL/JTAG/…
- BDM EBS5 MPC562 (Knorr)
- Press connect
When connected, go to “Memory-EBS” tab and press memory analyze.
Read/write flash&eeprom operations will appear.
Requirements to work with EBS5:
To work with Knorr-Bremse EBS5 from MAN truck, you will need the following equipment:
- VEI V6/V7 device
- Direct Connect 2U tool with OBD2 power cable
- DC2U-EBS5-MAN Knorr cable
- DC2U-ISP-BDM-JTAG dongle
- DC2U-BDM7 or BDM10 open flex adapters
- Power Supply
- License DC2
- License EBS
- Software from V7.0
