Change speed limit in MAN trucks
In 2005 MAN introduced a new generation of engines with Common-Rail Systems. The 2 main ECU’s in these vehicles are – our already talked about EDC7 and FFR.
FFR module is responsible for:
– Intarder and engine braking;
– Cruise control;
– Accelerator pedal and clutch travel sensors;
– FGR (Vehicle speed control) / FGB (Speed limiter) switch.
In 2013 MAN introduced its new line of vehicles with Euro VI (6) technology along with a new EDC17 and PTM system.
In this article we will cover:
Changing MAN speed limit from Euro IV (4) until Euro VI (6) on trucks and buses (FFR and PTM systems).

No license is needed, just 20-60 tokens per operation
There are 2 ways:
- OBD connection:
(for FFR and PTM procedure is the same)
- Connect VEI device to the OBD2 port;
- Open ‘Truck Explorer’ software and choose MAN OBD option;
- Click on ‘Parameters – PTM / FFR’;
- Select ‘Speed limit’ and input your desired number;
- Click ‘Set speed limit’ and it’s done!
- Direct Connection on the bench (DC mode)
(for FFR and PTM procedure is the same)
- Connect to the ECU with your VEI device, DirectConnect2U tool (DC2) and FFR / PTM cable;
- In Truck Explorer software choose MAN Direct Connect option;
- Click on ‘Parameters – PTM / FFR’;
- Select ‘Speed limit’ and input your desired number;
- Click ‘Set speed limit’ and it’s done!
Equipment:
- Truck Explorer VEI V6 device with a valid subscription
- DirectConnect2U tool (if connecting in DC mode)
- DC2-FFR or DC2-PTM cable (if connecting in DC mode)
