Change speed limit in Mercedes-Benz trucks and buses
CPC is the powertrain (drive) control unit found in Mercedes-Benz.
Different and updated versions of the unit can be found in basically all of the Mercedes generations.

MP1, MP2, MP3 generations, produced in 1996–2011, were equipped with FR / CPC.
In some markets new versions of the same module can be found to this day.

Truck Explorer supports: FR; FR/CPC; CPC1EU; CPC2EU.

MP4 generation, made during 2011–2018, included a more complicated system with ACM (after-treatment control module) which took some weight off of the all-new CPC3.

MP5 generation, introduced in Berlin on September 5th, 2018 and massively produced from 2019 to this day, introduced the CPC5 module.

Despite the changes and innovation throughout different Mercedes generations, FR/CPC, CPC3, CPC4 (Freightliner) and CPC5 have been responsible for the speed limiter (VMAX).

Speed limit (VMAX) change couldn’t be easier using Truck Explorer!

FR / CPC Speed limit:

  1. Connect VEI device to the OBD2 port;
  2. Open ‘Truck Explorer’ software and choose Mercedes OBD option;
  3. Click on ‘Extra’ and choose ‘CPC’;
  4. Select ‘Speed limit’ and input your desired number;
  5. Click ‘Set speed limit’ and it’s done!

* -operation can be also done directly on the bench. Simply connect the cable directly to the unit and choose Mercedes Direct Connect option. Further steps are the same as via OBD.

CPC3 Speed limit:

  1. Connect VEI device to the OBD2 port;
  2. Open ‘Truck Explorer’ software and choose Mercedes OBD option;
  3. Click on ‘Extra CPC’;
  4. Select ‘Speed limit’ and input your desired number;
  5. Click ‘Set speed limit’ and it’s done!

CPC5 Speed limit:

  1. Connect VEI device to the OBD2 port;
  2. Open ‘Truck Explorer’ software and choose Mercedes OBD option;
  3. Click on ‘Extra CPC’;
  4. Pay for the operation in Tokens;
  5. Select ‘Speed limit’ and input your desired number;
  6. Click ‘Set speed limit’ and it’s done!

* -changing speed limit on CPC4 Freightliner is the same, simply choose Freightliner OBD option when connecting.
